This is a screening of a short film that will be played on loop for the entirety of the event. “headless.exe” follows the soul of a dead anime girl trapped inside a headless figurine as she wanders through the pulsating streets of Akihabara, searching for her lost identity. Mysterious and haunting, this lonely character asks questions of collective existence within these images without agency and yet are all around us. In an age where media proliferates our over-stimulating environment in both the real and virtual, “headless.exe” examines the East Asian femme as both an archetype and a soul.
