Seiichi Kasai
Seiichi Kasai (b. 1932–) is an oil painter from Sapporo who has spent most of his career in Tokyo and Nagoya. Since the late-1970s he has been known for his still lifes of interior scenes with musical instruments and common items from everyday life. After studying oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts, Kasai learned from Maurice Brianchon in Paris and was selected for Salon d’automne. This exhibition surveys the evolution of his work from his early landscapes and portraits to his recent painting and examines his precise use of form with materials from his studio.
