Tsunemasa Takahashi
Tsunemasa Takahashi (b. 1949, Tokyo), studied in Vienna and Hamburg under R. Hausner and E. Fuchs in 1974. He researched blends of oils and tempera paints and held a solo exhibition in Vienna before spending the next four years working in Europe. He held group and solo exhibitions upon his return to Japan. His 40-year career as an illustrator has encompassed magazine illustrations, picture books, and poster designs for musicals. Takahashi held his first solo show at Galerie Tokyo Humanité in 1985 and his first in 18 years in 2011. This is his first exhibition of new works in four years.

Takahashi thoroughly researches the subjects of his works, but brings his own interpretations to them. He has produced temple sliding screen door paintings. Here you can see around 50 of his works, including some three meters in size, with motifs of people, animals, and landscapes.
