The Eames House was the former home and studio of the pioneering midcentury modern designers Charles and Ray Eames. It was created as a model solution for increased housing demand in the postwar era. In 2011, with the aim of preservation and the support of the Getty Research Institute, long-term preservation repairs were begun on the Eames House where the couple lived under the title “250-Year Project.” The first stage was completed in 2014. While interpreting the ideas of the Eames House as a masterpiece of 20th century housing design, this exhibition also introduces accounts of how the Eameses came to know fellow designer Isamu Noguchi and how they influenced each other.
