Artists

Moïse Kisling
Polish-born French painter Moise Kisling (1891-1953) was a major figure in the Ecole de Paris movement. Born in Krakow, Poland, Kisling moved to Paris at 19 and was contemporary with artists such as Picasso, Georges Braque, Modigliani, Jules Pascin, and others. Kisling’s early works were influenced by cubism. However, his later work showed a turn toward realism as seen in his landscapes, stills, and nudes. This exhibition features 60 works from the 1920s to 30s when he was known as the “Prince of Montparnasse” and works during his emigration to the US during World War II.
