A release party for new album “re/ports” by Hideki Umezawa and Yoichi Kamimura. Umezawa and Kamimura have been collaborating since 2016. They organize the project “0℃” that gathers sounds and documents related to ice & snow from artists all over the world.
In addition to the sound performance in the temporary installation by Hideki Umezawa + Yoichi Uemura, the release party will feature Yoshihiro Kawasaki, Makoto Oshiro and Hojo+Kraft (Tomoko Hojo + Rahel Kraft) as guest artists. Yoshihiro Kawasaki is a pioneer in Japanese field recorders, and with the launch of the world’s first satellite broadcasting ST.GIGA in 1990, he recorded environmental sounds from around the world and supported the Japanese sound art scene for a long time. His performance in this time will be a valuable opportunity to experience the performance of Kawasaki in Japan. Makoto Oshiro is active internationally as a unit “The Great △”. In addition to performances using tools that combine electronic devices, junk, and everyday materials, and installations that focus on physical phenomena, Hojo+Kraft have developed a collaborative practice since 2016 with the theme of “Sound, Place, Intimacy.” With performance, interviews, field recording, text and improvisation they create sound works focusing on the individual relationship between sound and place.
From familiar sounds to those far beyond our imagination, the sound that fills the space of Komagome Soko will open up our senses and give us an opportunity to think about our relationship with the environment.
※CD sales for each artist will be held on the 1st floor of Komagome SOKO. On the 2nd floor, art works will be exhibited by Umezawa and Uemura.
