Artists

Mariko Kobayashi
Mariko Kobayashi is a textile artist whose works involve weaving, dying, and embroidering materials such as cotton cloth, organdy, Japanese washi paper, and wool. Long interested in relationships between humans, animals, and the natural world, her works reflect what it means to live in the present given to us through cycles of life and death in which all creatures are interconnected.

“All of the World” presents a womb-like installation in the gallery and explores ideas of “eating life” and “being reborn in other forms.” These new works consider the reincarnation cycle, in which our souls return after our bodies perish.
