Artists

Yasuhiro Chida
The works of installation artist Yasuhiro Chida are informed by his experiences of mountaineering, ice climbing, and caving. They deal with awareness of space and changes in physical perception. Using light as a material, his works draw on spaces as they are while quietly resonating with what is deep inside us. They have won international praise, appearing in art festivals, stage art, lectures, and workshops. Chida was recently recognized as one of the world’s nine top light artists by Artdex. In addition to new installations, Kichijoji Art Museum presents his models, notes, and sketches, offering a glimpse into his production process. There will also be live events including workshops and performances.
