Mai Toyoshima depicts birds in copperplate prints using aquatint methods. Since 2011 she has also been creating “Birdric” sculptures. Her latest series “The First Songs of Small Birds” combines drawings in color with aquatint. The first exhibition of her prints in Tokyo features original illustrations chosen for the 2018 Bologna Picture Book exhibition.
