Miyamoto Saburo: Portraits of Women – Their Work and Roles

Miyamoto Saburo Memorial Museum
Finished

Artists

Saburo Miyamoto
The painter Saburo Miyamoto (1905-1974) depicted women throughout his career. Singers, actresses, and ballerinas were among his models. He also captured the energetic urban culture of his time. The women in his works all inhabit different positions within society. While portraying their roles, he also captured their deep-seated vibrancy, painting their vivacity rather than idealizing them. This exhibition lets visitors reflect on each of their stories.
