Noriko Shinohara
In this exhibition, the new paintings from “Cutie” series, which is the most well known her works and is her alter ego as well, will be exhibited. Noriko writes in her artist statement that these works were created in the difficult times caused by the coronavirus pandemic. This series follows the original artwork of the animation in the 2013 American documentary film “Cutie and the Boxer”, which was nominated in 2014 for an Academy Award for the best documentary film and won an Emmy award for the best documentary film in 2016. After the movie was released, her original artwork became a book and an e-book named “Cutie and B–”.
