This exhibition will showcase the work of two artists who have supported post-war art and presented new ways of art: Mieko Shiomi, a member of Fluxus, an art movement based on performance in which Joseph Beuys used to participate, and Susumu Koshimizu, a member of Mono-ha, which examined the relationship between “things” such as wood, stone, and paper. In addition to these two artists, there is Midori Arai, who attempts to compose paintings by leaving blank spaces and traces, such as strokes, outlines, and unconscious lines, accompanied by physicality; Sen Takahashi, who studies the characteristics of materials and the nature of sculpture through art restoration and brings out the contours of his works by tracing actions and traces; and Keijiro Nakamura, who confronts the time and memories of materials and reexamines his works through the intervention and experience of others. Takako Higashihata, who redefines her work through the intervention and experience of others, and Ana Miyaki, who uses the body to examine changes in behavior and private space, and creates works based on the resistance and friction that occurs in daily life.

In “Beuys + Palermo” at the National Museum of Art, Osaka, in addition to Joseph Beuys’s early works, the exhibition will introduce the relationship between the two artists’ teachers and students and their educational perspectives, as well as their works from the 1960s and 1970s, when they continued to experiment with the contact of matter with the outside world and society, mainly through sculpture and painting. In contrast, this exhibition, “Re:Beuys,” will focus on Beuys’ work from the 1960s to 1970s. In contrast, this exhibition “Re:Perspective” takes a different approach, but we hope it will be an experimental opportunity to explore Beuys’ work and relationship with society from a new perspective.
