Mika Shinagawa, an artist who has been exploring her identity and the human identity in her artwork, will be holding her first solo exhibition of her current series, “The dream of the Embryo” at Iori Machiya Stay’s Sanbo Nishinotoin Machiya. The machiya is a unique structure located behind an alleyway, isolated, with a large window on the second floor for natural lighting. The owner, who has a taste for paintings, renovated an embroidery workshop into a studio. New artwork painted for this exhibition will be exhibited in the machiya, with a history as a salon where culture-lovers such as writers, artists ,and various guests used to gather.
