Saiko Otake
Saiko Otake, a graduate of the University of the Arts London, has been in the limelight for her diverse activities in painting, photography, and mural painting. The artist is a victim of the Corona disaster and was unable to return to her hometown to devote herself to her work, resulting in large-scale solo exhibitions at the Parco Museum in Tokyo in 2020 and at Shinsaibashi Parco in 2021, which drew a great response. This spring, he won a prize at the Kiyosato Photo Art Museum’s 2020 Young Portfolio Exhibition. This spring, he won a prize in the 2020 Young Portfolio Exhibition at the Kiyosato Museum of Photo Art, securing his reputation in the field of photographic expression. For his third solo exhibition at Art Unlimited, he will be showing new paintings and photographs taken in his hometown of Uwajima, Ehime Prefecture, and Tokyo. As the opportunities to meet people and see their faces directly are decreasing, the exhibition will feature 7 paintings, ‘Spellbound-Mask,’ which Otake drew with an awareness of the “magic of colors and enchanting faces,” as well as about 20 new photographs that present a novel vision. A new zine (photo book) ‘Uwajima Tokyo’ was also published.
