The Dark Fairy Tale Picture Book Series is an adult collaborative picture book series by storyteller Noboru Moai and five fantasy painters inspired by famous fairy tales.
The long-awaited fourth volume, “Sweet Room,” is the only one in the series to include visual stories inspired by Japanese folktales and fairy tales, and is illustrated by Makiko Sugawa, a painter and illustrator popular for her fashionable and coquettish images of girls. To celebrate the release of the book, this exhibition will feature all of Makiko Sugawa’s original drawings from the book, as well as collage photographs by Noboru Moai. During the exhibition period, there will be live streaming of commentary and readings by both artists.
