ZENBI (Kagizen Art Museum)
Finished

Artists

Akira Yamaguchi
Akira Yamaguchi deftly portrays contemporary Japanese society using both traditional Japanese painting methods and oil painting techniques incorporating his own original perspectives. Sometimes serious and sometimes humorous, his work has garnered international acclaim. Yamaguchi works in a wide range of genres besides painting, including sculpture, newspaper illustration, installation, and since 2018 – manga. This exhibition introduces illustrations for newspapers and novels, notably original drafts for the serialized novel “Shinran.” Limited-edition sweets based on Yamaguchi’s concept sketches are available in the museum shop.
