Conveyance: Culture and Forms

Musashino Art University
Finished
The late Tsuneichi Miyamoto explored tools from prior to the age of the machine, everyday folk art objects, examining how their forms were influenced by the structures of the human body, their functions, and the cultural context. In this exhibition, we consider tools in one of the functional category of folk art objects that Miyamoto introduced, tools for carrying or conveying things, and takes a new look at the relationships between the body, lifeways, and tools’ forms.
