Memories of the City - A Thirty Thousand Year History of Tokyo

Edo-Tokyo Museum
Finished
Today’s Tokyo is the result of thousands and thousands of years of history. The Paleolithic period, when traces of human life have been found here, dates back to more than 30,000 years ago. It is too long a time to imagine, but the way people lived and the aspects of society in the past have been revealed by the remains discovered in the process of urban development and the valuable materials that have been handed down from person to person.

Since its opening in 1993, the Edo-Tokyo Museum has been conveying the history and culture of Edo-Tokyo, but in April 2022, the museum will undergo a major renovation. Before the museum closes, we will take a look back at the history of our city, from the Paleolithic Age to the present day.
