Shigeru Mizuki Exhibition

The Museum of Art, Ehime
Finished

Artists

Shigeru Mizuki
On November 30, 2015, at the age of 93, Shigeru Mizuki departed to the “other world.” Mizuki was not only a manga artist who created many hit works such as “Gegege no Kitaro,” “Demon-kun,” and “Kappa no Sanpei,” but he was also a highly acclaimed researcher of yokai who spread the culture of yokai through his works.
This exhibition, with the full cooperation of Mizuki Productions, takes a thorough look back at what the person Shigeru Mizuki has left behind. In addition to a number of works that reveal his outstanding drawing ability and message, such as studies from his youth, sketches drawn in war zones, and rare manga and yokai manuscripts from the rental book era, the exhibition will also include essay manuscripts, a collection of yokai and spirit images, and personal belongings, totaling approximately 390 items.
