Shiro Kuramata
Shiro Kuramata is a designer who has been producing innovative works in the field of commercial space, furniture, and product design since the mid-1960s. He continued to explore the possibilities of creation under the themes of “weightlessness” and “non-existence” by actively incorporating materials such as acrylic, glass, aluminum, steel mesh, and FRP that were not used in interiors and furniture at the time. The theme was “weightlessness” and “non-existence” and he continued to explore the possibilities of creation.

He was widely recognized around the world with his “Deformed Furniture” series (1970) and went on to create masterpieces such as “How High the Moon” (1986), a chair made of expanded metal, and “Miss Blanche”, a chair with floating roses in acrylic. In 1990, Kuramata received the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Ministry of Culture and was highly acclaimed internationally.
