The Kyoto Art Center is pleased to present Maya Watanabe’s “Suspended States” as the third installment of its “Focus” exhibition series featuring accomplished mid-career artists. Watanabe is based in the Netherlands. She creates works suggestive of an imperceptible existence arising from connections between the human and the animal, the natural, and the man-made. She achieves this by skillfully exploiting specific properties of the camera and video images to manipulate time and point of focus.
