As the saying goes, “Eyes speak louder than words.” This exhibition introduces works from the collection of the Itabashi Art Museum that have the power of the eye, including not only self-portraits and portraits, but also works that symbolically depict the eye or make us feel the presence of the eye.

Among the modern Western-style paintings in the museum’s collection, there are those that reflect the social conditions of the time and the artist’s thoughts by depicting eyes and those that appeal to viewers by making them feel the presence of eyes.
