Takuro Yoshikai
Yoshikai’s first encounter with photography was when he was strongly impacted by the photographic work of late Takuma Nakahira and his straightforward images.
Yoshikai started out by literally tracing Nakahira’s photographs. Or perhaps it can be said that he began with the urge to understand Nakahira’s photographs more deeply. Since his last exhibition ‘Phantom’ (2018), he has continued to photograph a diverse range of things, from landscapes and still lifes to animals and plants.
In this exhibition, he focuses on landscapes and presents photographs of things such as soil, water, rocks, cliffs, and trees as their constituent elements.
For Yoshikai, photography is above all straightforward photography, a means of renewing his own every day life. This solo exhibition is an extension of this daily photographic practice.
