The Meiji Emperor enjoyed horse-riding and kept many horses. In fact, the present-day Emperor’s Award originated at the Yokohama Negishi Racetrack in 1905. This exhibition looks at equestrian history in the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras with official documents from the Equine Museum of Japan and the Imperial Household Agency Archives.
