Yuma Kishi
Yuma Kishi’s first solo exhibition will be held at Block House in Harajuku, Tokyo. With the accelerating pace of technological innovation, various technologies have become a part of our daily lives to the extent that the term “information society” has become an obsolete term.

Kishi’s research focuses on machine learning, especially in the field of vision and imagery, and in 2019, Kishi graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Tokyo. Through research, Kishi is interested in reinterpreting the relationship between humans and machine technology by confronting AI not as “Artificial Intelligence” but as “Alien Intelligence,” as Kevin Kelly put it.

In this exhibition, Kish will present an installation work consisting of furniture designed using AI that learns 3D shapes. The everyday space composed by reconstructing objects that we use without thinking about them and leaving them to AI is similar to the rooms people usually live in, but it evokes the feeling of stepping into another dimension that is slightly different from daily life. It quietly loosens stereotypical notions of the world.
