The "Art Lab" on the second floor of the main building of the Nagano Prefectural Art Museum aims to be a "laboratory" where visitors can use not just their vision, but their other senses, as well. Sculptor and ceramic artist Yohei Nishimura has been presenting works that highlight the differences between materials through the process of firing. In one series, he applies clay to cans, metal, and paper, which are then fired.
