The Kikuchi Biennale is a public exhibition held every two years by the Chikagura Museum of Art in commemoration of the late Kanzane Kikuchi with the aim of promoting contemporary ceramics. In this exhibition, ceramic works are judged and exhibited uniformly, with no restrictions on shape or size, from the form of a vessel to a form without a purpose. This year's exhibition, the ninth of its kind, received 279 submissions from artists ranging in age from 20 to 80, mainly from Japan but also from other Asian countries. These works were selected in the first round of image screening and the second round of work screening, resulting in 54 selected works, including one Grand Prize, one Excellence Award, and three Encouragement Awards.
