Miho Dohi
Miho Dohi is a Japanese sculptor who has been receiving high acclaim overseas. This will be Dohi's third solo exhibition at Hagiwara Projects in three years.

In recent years, Dohi has exhibited at galleries in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. In 2020, she had a solo exhibition at the Renaissance Society, the oldest contemporary art museum in the U.S.

Dohi creates three-dimensional works by combining various materials such as brass, copper plating, thread, cloth, paper, and wood with paint. She carefully manipulates effects of the shapes, textures, and colors of the materials, and combines them in a way that can sometimes be described as experimental. Dohi’s works, which do not have a specific theme or finished form – but are the result of a relentless search for the possibility of creating something unknown – have an organic presence, as the elements of their structure are unevenly opposed to each other, yet all are in convincing harmony. Dohi calls the resulting works "buttai" (objects), which evokes a variety of interpretations depending on the viewer, but refuses to be fixed to any one meaning or preconception.

This exhibition will consist of new three-dimensional works. The works are not only placed on pedestals, but also hung on walls, encouraging viewers to move their eyes and enjoy the organic objects from various angles.
