This award was established in 1979 at Tokyo Polytechnic University to promote the development of photographers with an international perspective as well as to honor William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877), the inventor of the negative-positive process and the father of modern photography. The prize is open to students and graduates of Tokyo Polytechnic University, up to 10 years after graduation.
This year's Fox Talbot Prize was awarded on February 2, 2012, after a rigorous screening process by the five members of the jury: Takeyoshi Tanuma, Eikoh Hosoe, Yoshitaka Nakatani, Yoshihiro Tatsuki, and Kisei Kobayashi. Enjoy the expressions of these young talents who aspire to become photographers.
