Gallery Koyanagi is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Arisa Kumagai, "I Wish I Was Born as You", from April 16 (Sat) to June 25 (Sat), 2022.
Kumagai's works always reflect her own background, focusing on the irrational and contradictory nature of human existence and its two sides: wealth and poverty, life and death, love and hate.
The works, with their unsettling presence portrayed with outstanding realism technique, are born from Kumagai's confrontation with her personal feelings and experiences, her own past and present. In this exhibition, the text is placed alongside the works to evoke the viewer's imagination, foreshadowing a new development in Kumagai's creative process.
