The museum's collection of approximately 4,300 Japanese work of arts and crafts, mainly from the Middle Ages to the present day, are on display and open to the public. These works of art are not only beautiful in form, but also provide a means to learn about the history and culture of various periods and regions, and to experience diverse sensibilities and values through them. At the same time, however, "art" is often associated with a difficult image due to technical terms peculiar to art and methods of expression that cannot be captured in the category of beauty, which hinder understanding and appreciation.
This exhibition presents a selection of masterpieces from the museum's collection and deposited works, while at the same time providing easy-to-understand explanations of basic information such as materials, techniques, and subjects, as well as background and intention of production, meaning, and purpose, to help visitors understand the artworks and their appeal and characteristics. The exhibition will serve as a guide to the appreciation of the works.
