Asuka Irie
Asuka Irie (born 1980, Tokyo) graduated from the Master's Program in Printmaking at Tama Art University in 2004 and went to France in 2012 as an overseas trainee for budding artists from the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
In 2013, Irie won the grand prize at "PAT in Kyoto" (Kyoto Print Triennial), in 2014, he participated in "The 17th Domani Exhibition of Tomorrow", an exhibition to present the results of her overseas training program by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and in 2018, her first large-scale retrospective exhibition was held at Yokohama Takashimaya and Kyoto Takashimaya, and in 2019 at the Tenshin Memorial Itsuura Art Museum in Ibaraki.

Irie is characterized by her insistence on being a "printmaker," her use of Western copperplate engraving techniques as the mainstay of her work, but also her inexhaustible use of Japanese painting, ukiyoe, and other techniques, and the composition of his images created from her abundant imagination. Irie shows us figures, animals, and fairytale inhabitants in another dimension with her unerring ability to depict them.

This exhibition, held three years after the 2018-19 retrospective, will show representative and popular works from her early to most recent years, but will also focus on large-scale works to be produced after 2019 and works she has been working on in recent years (those with a seasonal theme, those that incorporate the essence of calligraphy, and those that use foil).
