Chihiro Iwasaki "Dreams from Childhood"

Chihiro Art Museum Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Chihiro Iwasaki
Chihiro Iwasaki spent a happy childhood in Tokyo between the two World Wars. For Iwasaki, who was later tossed about by the war in her youth, her peaceful and well-off childhood remained in her heart throughout her life. She was also impressed by the children's paintings that were in picture magazines such as Kodomo no Kuni at the time, and this inspired Iwasaki to become a picture book artist. This exhibition focuses on the early years of Chihiro Iwasaki's life and introduces the children's paintings she was exposed to as a child, the influence they had on her, and picture books based on her childhood memories.
