Chihiro Kihara
From winter 2017 to spring 2019, Chihiro Kihara went from Fukuoka to visit that person living in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, to take photographs. The everyday scenes captured in the photographs begin with scenes of airplanes and airports, then move on to chimneys towering over small towns, strawberry fields, and small mountains, all of which are freshly captured in the expressions of the subjects.

This work, which depicts others who are not in a special relationship with family or friends, is an attempt to see if it is possible to affirm and accept the existence of the beings involved with oneself in the countless encounters and partings that occur in life. "Some of the Lights" won the Grand Prix at the 1st Fugensha Photo Award.
