Clara Spilliaert
Born in Tokyo in 1993, Clara Spilliaert is a graduate of the LUCA School of Arts and lives and works in Ghent, Belgium. In her first solo exhibition in Japan, she focuses on the roots of her "sekirara" (candid) diary drawings from 2009 to 2017, and the process by which she expanded her expression to include ceramics. The main theme of her work is the role of symbols in the formation of individual and collective cultural identities, and the relationship between nature and human beings that can be read from these symbols.
