Clara Spilliaert
Clara Spilliaert, born in Tokyo, Japan in 1993, studied drawing and ceramics at the LUCASchool of the Arts in Ghent after studying abroad in Belgium, where she received a Master of Visual Arts degree. In 2020, she won the CAF Award, an art award for nurturing young artists. In 2021, Spilliaert participated in "Rising Stars," a group exhibition at the Ginza Tsutaya that showcases up-and-coming young artists.

Spilliaert's collection of works, Kurara Sekirara" is published by the Belgian publisher Mer. B&L in conjunction with her first solo exhibition, which will be held on the 4th floor of the Piramide Building in Roppongi from February 5 to March 26.

The book is a collection of 240 drawings selected from these diaries, which are compiled into a book as a story that can be freely interpreted. The picture diary was the starting point for Spilliaert's work and sparked her interest in the role of symbols in identity formation. In recent ceramic works, she has expanded the themes of her work to include sexuality, faith, and the relationship between nature and human beings.
