Echo Tomorrow Field―Food and Art

Taiza Studio
Finished

Artists

Yoshihisa Tanaka, Teresita Fernández, Akio Niisato, Samson Young, Yoshihiro Suda et al.

This project encompasses three locations with exhibitions featuring food, a market, and a library, which together help envision a future lifestyle as seen through the local climate, history, and industries of the Kyotango region. Architects and chefs will rediscover the culinary culture of the area and work together to convey the joy of eating at the Food Festival market where the traditional crafts of Kyotango are displayed and sold in a modern setting. The library allows visitors to learn more about the history, culture, and charm of the region. The central theme of the Echo festival is the “voice of the heart,” as heard resounding across these plains upon which artwork can be experienced.

In Special Exhibition I, based around the word “pray,” a small shrine and a ritual yashiro structure for prayer will be created at Takano Shrine, which is over 2,000 years old. In Special Exhibition II, Taiza Studio will serve as a site for exploring the future of Japanese art and crafts. In Special Exhibition III, Kinosaki Onsen Mikiya, a Japanese inn that has fostered culture for 300 years, will introduce connections with the land through history and culture by way of architecture and art.
