This exhibition focuses on the activities and pioneering spirit of the legendary gallerist Etsuro Ishihara. In addition to introducing the rare collection, original prints will be on sale. The exhibition will be held from March 4 to 31, 2022 at the Art Editions Corner showcase in the store.

Etsuro Ishihara is a gallerist who founded Zeit-Foto Salon, the first commercial photo gallery in Japan, in 1978 in Nihonbashi Muromachi.

In this exhibition, with the cooperation of Zeit-Foto Kunitachi, rare original prints of world masters such as Eugène Atget, Henri Cartier-Bresson, André Kertész, and Bill Brandt from Etsuro Ishihara's collection will be exhibited and sold. The exhibition will also feature rare archival materials, such as Polaroid photographs documenting Etsuro Ishihara's career and photos by Shigeo Asai, which convey the dynamism of the art scene of his time, in cooperation with Etsuro Ishihara and the Zeit Photo Salon Archive Project. In cooperation with the Archive Project, we will exhibit rare archival materials such as Polaroid photographs documenting Etsuro Ishihara's trajectory and photos by Shigeo Azai that convey the dynamism of the art scene of his time.

At the exhibition, Japanese photography historian Yumi Awata presents a three-dimensional view of the history of Japanese photography from the perspective of Etsuro Ishihara's life, will present a textbook that explains how to view photography as art and its value.
