Hideaki Yamamoto
Hideaki Yamamoto is an artist who creates his works while confronting trees in nature. His work is highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad and has been given to individuals and companies in about 15 countries.

The peculiarity of Yamamoto's work is that he does not carve solid blocks of wood, but starts by gluing and stacking 3~4cm square pine cubes to create a surface. These are then used as a unit to stand up a rough shape, and the surface is then carved out with a chainsaw or circular saw. After carving countless lines, the wood is protected using pine resin, persimmon tannin, and other traditional Japanese methods. A bundle of square lumber, which is constructed based on careful calculations, is cut into new shapes with skilled techniques and a well-honed sense.

Yamamoto has been interested in geological strata since he was a child, excavating Jomon earthenware and fossils, and looking at the formation of faults for a long time, thinking about the things and things of the past. He felt a strong sense of history, time, and life, which is why he stacks cubes of wood and painstakingly scrapes them to create a texture reminiscent of geological strata, expressing the passage of time as it accumulates. In this exhibition, "Emotion," Yamamoto will focus on "shaking up the possibilities" and present work that incorporates new colors and techniques.

In addition, Yamamoto will present work that incorporates communication in the form of collaboration with viewers. By incorporating a bit of a third party's opinion, the artist himself has been able to create works that he had never imagined.
