If art has any role in the world, it is to disturb, destroy, revitalize, renew, and regenerate rigid societies and cultures by bringing chaos into human life. There is no absolute chaos, and chaos is always relative. The chaos Hirofumi Takemoto deals with is "Quiet Chaos" with a non-Western, pre-modern face. This is one form of chaos that Takemoto believes is necessary in this day and age.
