Hiroko Komatsu
Hiroko Komatsu is an internationally acclaimed artist who creates installations using photography and video. She received the Kimura Ihei Photography Award in 2018. This will be her second exhibition at IG Photo Gallery. For her 2019 show “Price of Life Guarantee,” Komatsu created an installation in which images were projected onto a space filled with silver-halide photographic prints. This time, visitors will see Komatsu's work in a new format.

There are three key phrases for this exhibition: "murder scene," "frottage," and "photogram.” In the photographic work used to promote the exhibition, you can see a light that could be the twinkling of a star or the glow of a mineral in deep darkness. The image is reminiscent of a message sent from a distant place in space or time. A series of numbers, a year, and English words also give clues. The viewer is invited to ponder what these mean. The exhibited works will be framed, and visitors are encouraged to look at them closely and use their imaginations to solve the mysteries they contain.
