Hoki Museum of Art opened in Chiba City in 2010 as Japan's first museum specializing in realistic paintings. Its collection was acquired by businessman Masao Hoki and includes work by leading contemporary Japanese artists. The collection consists of more than 500 finely detailed realistic paintings. These paintings, which are more realistic than the real thing, are based on a wide variety of subjects, including people, landscapes, and still life, and have attracted attention in recent years through the Hoki Museum's permanent collection, special exhibitions, and traveling exhibitions. In today's age of easy photography and moving images, realistic paintings are created by artists who spend a long time facing the motif of the subject and applying brush after brush of paint. These realistic paintings, with their rich individuality and skillful expression, are imbued with the artist's will to depict and capture the essence of the subject and have a strong presence that will never fade away.

This exhibition brings together 64 masterpieces by 25 artists selected from the Hoki Museum collection, including Sosuke Morimoto, Hiroshi Noda, and Fumihiko Gomi, all of whom represent contemporary realistic painting.
