Established in 1793, Shitsurindo has been engaged in the lacquer industry for generations in Sabae, Fukui, which is the production area of Echizen lacquerware. They produce the original lacquerware that is novel and fits well into our everyday life while inheriting the beautiful and robust lacquerware production cultivated in their manufacturing products for professional use.
This exhibition introduces Shitsurindo’s diverse work by showcasing new dishwasher-safe lacquerware, soup bowls made from Echizen handmade Japanese paper, and lacquerware for restaurants. Additionally, some Kintsugi pieces by the in-house artisan will be exhibited.
