Gallery Tsukigime is pleased to present an exhibition by photographer James J. Robinson.
"'White Australia policy' restricted people with Asian roots from immigrating to Australia from 1901 to 1975 and led to the creation of a white Australia. Although only 47 years have passed since the policy was abolished, the past in Australian culture is portrayed as innocent and clean.
The media and mainstream art are used to erase concerns and make it seem as if the past was not bad. But who benefits from erasing the reality of racism from the history books?
"On Golden Days" is a cynical look at Australia's history by Filipino-Australian artist James J. Robinson. It is an optimistic presentation of a past that never existed. More than 100 Asian Australians collaborated on this projects to correct the history of racism in the country.
