Karel Martens "Tokyo Papers"

Karimoku Commons Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Karel Martens
"Tokyo Papers" began when Karel Martens happened to receive a discarded Japanese cigarette purchase receipt from a friend. By printing his signature graphic motifs on the cigarette receipts, Martens expressed his work as "a place where two worlds meet," Japan and the Netherlands.

This exhibition will feature the original prints of "Tokyo Papers," which will be exhibited for the first time in Japan, as well as other representative graphic patterns by Martens and wooden objects created by Karimoku Furniture under his supervision. There will also be a pop-up store selling a collection of his works and goods such as tote bags designed with his graphic patterns.
