Kota Kishi "Urabon-e"

Photographers' Gallery
Finished

Artists

Kota Kishi
Over the course of 15 years, Kota Kishi photographed Kamagasaki in Osaka, Yamaya in Tokyo, and Kotobukicho in Yokohama, and published these photographs in "Wounds, Appearance" in 2021. Kishi has since produced a series of booklets called Renchan, as if trying to uncover the history of each town through photography.

This exhibition recomposes the photographs that have been published in "Wounds, Appearance" along with those unpublished. In particular, it focuses on photographs that capture in detail the graffiti on the walls, messages, and posters left by the people living in these towns.
