The artist’s style is ever-changing and always free, with drawings created from delicate and free curves and original letters incorporated into various mediums. Lee (Asano+Ryuhei) is also known in the music scene as a beatmaker and rapper.
The technique of "sampling" in the context of hip-hop can be felt in Lee’s music and past works. In recent works, Lee “samples” existing paintings, converting them into dots and then manually filling in one square at a time. This unorthodox style has brought a new freedom. The exhibition “Yeno” (meaning neither yes nor no) will be a rare opportunity to see Lee’s expression in Tokyo, which cannot be conveyed through a screen.
