Communication Gallery Fugensha is pleased to announce the photography exhibition of Mari Katayama from July 20 (Wed) to August 21 (Sun), 2022, in commemoration of the publication of the magazine "Photography" vol.2 Mosaic.
"Possession," which is a sequel to the previous work "leave-taking" (Akio Nagasawa Gallery Ginza, 2021), was shot especially for this exhibition and inspired by the experience of having to give away one of her works to an overseas art museum collection. The invisibility of the patchwork dolls and the act of hiding in their costumes is reminiscent of the "mosaic" theme of the magazine issue. We hope you will enjoy Katayama's recent works in which she questions the labels and creates the "freedom that belongs to no one."
