Mariyo Yagi + Yuna Yagi “Tracing the Earth’s Crust”

Pola Museum Annex
Finished

Artists

Mariyo Yagi, Yuna Yagi
Mariyo Yagi is an environmental artist who has been exploring forms in which human beings become one with their environment by capturing the enormous flow of energy generated by the earth's crust. The "Nawa Lojii" series is known as one of her best-known works, in which the twists and turns of the rope suggest the diverse bases of life. For this exhibition, she has chosen iron, which is related to the creation of the earth, as the material for her new work, which explores the future path of life on earth and of human beings.

Yuna Yagi has been working on expressions that confront nature from a superior perspective, such as her "Seeds Awakening" series that weaves together the fragility and richness of life's activities, and her photographic works that visualize the flow of time and the trajectory of light. Her latest work is a series of photographs laying down the ground, which could be called the present tense of the expression of the earth after a long period of time.

Tracing the Earth's Crust" is an exhibition in which the synergy of the two artists' works creates a space of cosmology in the city where great energy is generated.
