Masayuki Arai
This is the first solo exhibit of Masayuki Arai in Tokyo. He uses photographs, purchased from the web, which he sticks to the canvas and paints around the photographs, driven by his own imagination. At the end the photographs, serving as a motif, are removed, and only the part drawn solely based on the artist's imagination, remains. Arai's works make the viewer ponder about existence-absence, extension of the imagination, and the lag of one's individual perception.
